Call for Movement Disorder Grant Proposals
Deadline November 25, 2024
The Parkinson’s and Movement Disorder Foundation (PMDF) is awarding one or
more small grants of at least $5,000 each for research into any aspect of
Parkinson’s disease or other movement disorders.
Application requirements:
A 1-page summary of the proposed research written in language a layperson
could understand, including brief background, significance, and qualifications
of the investigative team (typeface: Times font 12 or similar size, 1-inch
margins).
A proposal written in scientific language, such as that used in a journal article, 3
to 10 single-spaced pages (typeface: Times font 12 or similar size, 1-inch
margins). Sections should include background and significance, specific aims,
hypotheses, description of the proposed study methods, description of the
research facilities, and budget for $5,000.
A curriculum vitae (CV) of the primary investigator. If the primary investigator
is a student, please send a CV for both the student and research supervisor.
Please be sure that the CV contains current contact information.
Two relevant articles authored by the applicant or research supervisor.
Grant requirements:
Money cannot be used to support travel, rent, or indirect costs.
Grantees will be required to submit very short, abstract-style progress reports
on June 30, 2025 and December 30, 2025.

MOVE4U-5k Walk/Run event - September 25, 2021

The Parkinson's and Movement Disorder Foundation (PMDF) held out 10th annual MOVE4U 5k Walk/Run Fundraiser at Mile Square Park at Group Shelter 1 in Fountain Valley, CA on September 25th supporting PMDF’s mission. We had over 150 people attending our event, successfully raising over $68,000!
Congratulations to our top 3 runners with:
- 1st place being 2 Disneyland
ParkHopper tickets,
- 2nd place being 2 Universal Studios Halloween Horror
tickets, and
- 3rd place being 2 Knott’s Scary Farm tickets.
Participants of
the fundraiser who attended were also eligible to win one of our raffle
prizes, ranging from various gift cards to a handheld massage gun.

PPE For Parkinson’s 2020
Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our PPE For Parkinson’s event on September 26, 2020 in Fountain Valley, California. We were able to raise over $33,000 with your help!

Due to the COVID pandemic, the MOVE4U 5k event will be cancelled for the 2020 year.
In place of the event we will be hosting PPE for Parkinson’s, a personal protective equipment distribution event benefitting those affected by Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
The free PPE kits will include items such as surgical masks, KN95 masks, hand sanitizer, and more.
If you meet the eligibility requirement, use the link below for our online registration process. A confirmation email will be sent closer to the event date with a confirmation code and designated time-slot to be used for the day of the event.

The Parkinson's and Movement Disorder Foundation (PMDF) and the National Spasmodic Torticollis Association (NSTA) held our 8th annual MOVE4U 5k Walk/Run Fundraiser at Mile Square Park at Group Shelter 17 in Fountain Valley, CA on May 19th supporting the mission of each organization in our fight against movement disorders. We had over 200 people attending our event, successfully raising over $30,000!
Congratulations to our top 3 runners with 1st place being 2 Roundtrip Southwest E-tickets, 2nd place being 4 Knott's Berry Farm tickets, and 3rd place being 2 Six Flags Magic Mountain tickets.
